When my uncle Kim called me and asked if I’d be interested in being a deck hand on a sailing trip from St. Johns to Trinidad I had no idea what I was getting myself into. What an incredible adventure it turned out to be. My uncle and his best friend Bruce were planning to move Bruce’s boat out of the hurricane belt during the storm season and needed to get it to Trinidad. We spent 5 days sailing in the deep blue ocean without spotting land, boat or plane. Upon arrival in Trinidad my uncle flew back but Bruce and I continued on, making friends with many of our countries finest aboard the USS Carney and the locals. A few pictures from the trip.
